Explanation
This is severe pain in the leg along the course of the sciatic nerve and the distribution of its branches.
Considerations
The usual cause of sciatica is presumed to be mechanical compression or trauma to the sciatic nerve or its roots. The nerve is sensitive to pressure along its entire course, and any movement of the leg which stretches the nerve is accompanied by acute pain and involuntary muscular resistance. Excessive intake of carbohydrates may be a contributory factor.
Treatment
When there is a deficiency of Vitamin B1, Vitamin B-complex should be used as basic therapy. Attention also should be paid to meeting the needs of the tendons, ligaments, muscles and other soft tissues that may be involved in the area of the sciatic nerve system.
