Explanation
The vitally important endometrium (tissue) lines the uterus. Endometritis is the inflammation of the endometrium and neck of the uterus caused by the growth of bacteria.
Considerations
Poor hygiene during and after intercourse, childbirth, menstruation (periods), uterus scraping, probe insertion, or carelessly inserted forceps introduce the bacteria to this fertile breeding ground. In severe cases infection spreads to the uterine wall. Women who want to bear children must be alert to the presence of endometritis (uterus infections) because it can cause miscarriage or even sterility.
