Explanation
Pain in the spine is most frequent in the low back area, although it may occur in any part of the back. Poor posture tends to be the most frequent precipitating cause. Backache may be the result of arthritis, acute illness, infections of the genito-urinary tract, bone abnormalities or ankylosing spondylitis may also be in the etiological picture. Lesions of the intervertebral discs are also a common cause of backaches and chiropractic care is often needed.
Considerations
Prolonged deficiency of calcium, magnesium and Vitamin D produces generalized bone demineralization and porosis. Bone formation, or repair and growth, is halted by a deficiency of protein, enzymes, and nutrients necessary to utilize it, and by an inadequacy of Vitamin C, which is essential for connective tissue and the cartilaginous tough matrix of bone to maintain normalcy.
Supporting Products
Poor posture may be the prime cause of backache, but it is evident that poor nutrition is the predisposing cause of poor posture. Poor nutrition is also responsible for bone, ligament, cartilage, and other supporting structural tissue weakness. Attention to infections, general ill health, and the care and prevention of trauma are also necessary.
